Reversion of fruit-dependent inhibition of flowering in Citrus requires sprouting of buds with epigenetically silenced CcMADS19

Why do orange trees alternate between high- and low-crop seasons? Here we propose a model involving transient chromatin modifications in a floral repressor gene. Great collaboration with Carlos Mesejo and Manuel Agustí.

Extremophilic bacteria restrict the growth of Macrophomina phaseolina by combined secretion of polyamines and lytic enzymes

We have explored the use of soil extremophilic bacteria as biocontrol agents in sustainable agriculture. Thanks to the collaboration with the Belfiore Lab (CONICET, Tucumán, Argentina), we have found that polyamines produced by the bacteria reduce the fungal infection in soybean.

Comprehensive identification of SWI/SNF complex subunits underpins deep eukaryotic ancestry and reveals new plant components

Very nice collaboration with Jorge Casal's lab in Instituto Leloir (Argentina) that helps explain why different organs respond differently to ambient temperature. Read about it here.

Organ-specific COP1 control of BES1 stability adjusts plant growth patterns under shade or warmth

We offer 11 predoctoral contracts in the EpiSeedLink consortium, funded by the MSCA-DN-2021 program. We aim to explore epigenetic regulation to improve seed vigor and crop resilience. Click here for more information about groups, projects and how to apply.
